I was trawling the internet this sunny afternoon, when I stumbled across a website that made me laugh so hard it brought tears to my eyes.
It’s called DoP Life and it sums up the highs and lows of life as a Director of Photography and Camera Operator via the tongue-in-cheek medium of the animated GIF.

They’re all hilarious, but here are 10 of my favourites…
When a scene’s taken so long to shoot that the sun’s crept round the side of the 20 by silk and the director won’t give the gaffer and I time to move it.
When I hear someone say “Let’s just check with the DP first”
Trying to sneak off set during a wildtrack recording.
When the sun suddenly comes out and I have to grab a new light meter reading.
When I’m listening to the director talk through the shots he wants for the scene and he offhandedly mentions “top shot from the scissor lift up by the studio roof”
When the grip has built the dolly into some weird new mode I’ve never seen before.
When I’ve only just sat down for lunch and the AD comes over to say we’re back in 5 minutes.
When the sparks hear there are sandwiches on set.
When you comment that you love shooting on 500T and the loader says “you know we loaded 200 right?”
When you told the sparks they could wrap a particular lamp for the day then instantly realise you need it again.
