COSMOS is a modern sci-fi mystery following three amateur astronomers who accidentally intercept what they believe is a signal from an alien civilisation. Realising they may have just stumbled across Mankind’s greatest discovery, they must race to document their finding, prove its authenticity and share it with the world before it is lost forever... but the truth they uncover is even more incredible than any of them could have imagined.
COSMOS is modern sci-fi with a nostalgic feel - inspired by the character driven movies of the Amblin-era where the ordinary meets the extraordinary and the extraterrestrial. It isn’t gritty, hard-nosed take on first contact, but a story of friendship, wonder and the belief that our search for new life brings out the best in us.

GRAVITAS VENTURES RELEASES UK INDIE “COSMOS” WORLDWIDE AND DAY-&-DATE IN THE US
Gravitas Ventures has acquired worldwide rights to new sci-fi adventure “Cosmos,” written and directed by British filmmaking brothers Elliot and Zander Weaver.
“Cosmos” will be available in US theaters and on demand worldwide on Nov. 8. It explores the thrilling first hours of first contact with an extraterrestrial race after three amateur astronomers uncover a faint, coded message on the airwaves — what they believe is an alien signal.
Cosmos was produced by a core crew of three and cast of three and made over 5 years with no financial backing. The Weaver Brothers, who were originally turned down for funding for their debut feature, were inspired and emboldened by indie rebels like Robert Rodriguez to take a second look at the filmmaking equipment they already owned, seize control of their filmmaking destiny and “stop asking permission to follow their dreams of making sci-fi movies”. Cosmos went from filming in a friend's garage in their home town of Birmingham, UK to a Premiere in the heart of Hollywood and showcases the talent and potential of the directing duo.
According to Nick Royak, manager of acquisitions at Gravitas Ventures “’Cosmos’ is one of the most original indie sci-fi’s I’ve seen and when you learn about the shoe-string production behind the incredible visuals, the awe just grows,” “The Weaver brothers embody the best elements of exploratory filmmaking and we are very proud to have their first widely released feature.”
